OKAY finally editing this.

:star: PLEASE READ EXPLANATION :star: (if you haven't already kinda deduced it for yourself)

For starters, this isn't actually supposed to be romantic or a crack paring- It's just meant as a respect/friendship thing, like maybe something you would give to a girl who is just a friend or is a tomboy- Or you could give it to a guy too, it works for that as well. At least I like to think so.

I spent all day yesterday on this and while it is silly, I really like how it came out. Once again, tried a different style than I normally work in and a style that I felt was appropriate for both Utena and Host Club since the art and visual feel of both series is pretty similar. I imagine Utena would look something like Host Club if it was to be animated nowadays.

This idea came to me because I've always thought that a lot of Ouran High School Host Club was heavily inspired by Utena- what with the twirling rose motif, the weird rich academy, the who 'princely' thing, very exagerrated situations and movements, etc. The art style is also very similar- Lanky figures, very round eyes without defined pupils, and so on.

Anyway, my main thought was that both Utena and Tamaki are 'princely' characters, right? And Tamaki is very similar to Touga (superficially) in the way he acts towards women. But instead of being a total chauvanist playboy like Touga, Tamaki does respect women. So, with that thought, I imagined Tamaki having an odd respect for Utena.

I didn't intend this to be a romantic picture at all, because that would defy everything Utena stands for. Rather, I see this as sort of a sweet friendship/respect kind of image. Like, Tamaki is telling Utena :star: "Being a prince is fine, but even we princely characters still deserve to receive gifts today".:star: I hope that makes sense- It makes perfect sense in my head, but it's really hard to convey in words. I guess in a sense he is still being a LITTLE bit of a chauvanist (because let's face it, anyone who has completed Host Club knows he kind of is- Though he isn't one out of ill-intent), as he still sees her as a girl which is why he's giving her a rose (though not one he wants to woo), but he's trying to show her his respect as a 'fellow prince'.

I hope you all like this image!! I personally love how it turned out.

At the end of the month I'm going to take the text off. Let me know what you guys think about the font/text by the way- Should I leave the top text on or take it all off?

Utena Tenjou and Tamaki Suoh are owned by Chiho Saito and Bisco Hatori, respectively. I only own this image- Do not copy, trace, or steal.

YAY! Utena!!
I never saw Ouran High School Host Club but I'll yay this fellow since I like his sassy bangs.

This is really cute, and I feel indifferent about the text. I don't usually like printed font on pictures unless it's hand written. I think if you wrote it by hand instead of using the text tool, I think it wouldn't distract so much. BUuuuuttt.. That's just me. I still really like the pictures. And I LOVE the effect you put on Utena's hair! Helps the pink not get lost in the background.

HAH is bangs are indeed full of sass. You should watch it sometime- It's a lot of fun. Just make sure you watch it subbed.

Thank you! I was trying out a new style that I saw on another Utena fanart and I like the effect. I'm in agreement with you on the text- I think for my drawing style, that font is way too clean. I'd either need to go with handwritten, as you said, or something with more flourishes and the like. Thanks Kimba!!
